SIMPLE DIY MACRAME POT HANGER

It’s something about succulents and macramé’s that I have an addiction to. I’ve had so many macramé shelf pot hangers and the wall hangers in my house by now that people think I’m crazy 🙈. So, this time I wanted to make something very simple for a few succulent pots that I had . Was brainstorming ideas and found one day that I fell in love with.  It’s so simple and yet very elegant looking. This only takes MINUTES to make because it’s not very fussy at all. I used this idea to hang pots from the ceiling of my terrace but you can find any good spot to hang your pots in. And really, you could customize this to your taste very easily.  Make the fringe on the bottom a lot longer or shorter, use thicker rope, use 2 pieces of rope all the way through instead of just 1, etc.

You can use any kind of plant and pot that you wish you. There are so many options out there. Using a terracotta pot looks the most pleasant with it. Let’s get started with how to make it now. I'll be showing you step by step instructions with pic5

Supplies needed:

  • Any kind of rope- jute etc
  • Plant pot
That’s it, it’s that simple...

To make the rope hanger, Start by cutting 4 pieces of rope that are plenty long enough to have some rope hanging at the bottom, plus plenty extra for hanging up above the pot. You’ll also need to account for a little extra length for tying the knots around the pot.

Now fold the ropes in half and create a loop knot on the top like shown in the picture.

Next divide the strands into groups of 2, with the knot placed at the top. Each of those groups of 2 strands will be divided into fourths.

Now, tie a knot into each of those groups of 2, towards the end of the rope. This knot will be half way down after the loop. Make sure that the knots of all four are of the same length as the others.

Next up, we’ll take the alternative ropes of the groups of 2 that we made earlier and tie knots right after the first knot. It will look something like this. Basically its 2,3... 4,5... 6,7...1,8 together

Then tie a big knot with all of the ropes together towards the end leaving some space after the second set of knots . And tadaa!! your plant hanger is done. You just have to place a pot and a nice succulent in it.

Trust me this will look absolutely beautiful on the wall or hanging on the ceiling. You might even place these in your balcony and make the corners look beautiful.
